Andrea Belotti had been ready to sign on for Cagliari as a free agent after his contract expired, but the former Roma and Torino striker failed a medical.
The 32-year-old’s experience in Sardinia was short-lived and unlucky, as he joined them for free in September 2025 on a one-year contract.
Within weeks of putting pen to paper, he suffered a serious knee injury with the rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament.
It kept the centre-forward out for most of the season, returning in April 2026 for a handful of substitute appearances.

Cagliari had been ready to welcome Belotti back, as after all he did score two goals in eight official Serie A games for the club, and had agreed a new short-term contract.
However, the Corriere dello Sport claim that Il Gallo failed a medical test, so any decision on his future will have to wait.
Most famous for his years at Torino, the striker scored 116 goals in 356 Serie A appearances, along with 32 assists.
He also found the net 12 times in 44 senior caps for Italy.
