Bologna’s continued interest in Connor Barron could yet become a factor in Rangers’ pursuit of Lewis Ferguson.
According to the Daily Record, the Rossoblù have long admired the Rangers midfielder, having tried to sign him back when he left Aberdeen for Ibrox in 2024.
The Serie A side asked Barron to wait at the time, but the Scotland international opted for the offer on the table from Rangers instead.
They have kept tabs on him since, reportedly making an approach last season that was rebuffed by then-sporting director Kevin Thelwell, with Rangers making clear he was not for sale at that point.

Barron reportedly remains on Bologna’s list, and his camp is aware of the ongoing Serie A interest. Whether Rangers would sanction a sale this summer is unclear, though new manager Derek McInnes is a known admirer, having worked with Barron as he came through the ranks at Aberdeen.
The other half of the equation is Ferguson himself.
Rangers are keen to bring the Bologna captain to Ibrox and have already made an enquiry, though they know it would be a difficult deal, with Bologna valuing their skipper in the eight-figure bracket and fielding strong competition from Roma and Atalanta.
Whether Rangers can fund it may hinge on outgoings, with Belgium’s Nicolas Raskin, linked with Atalanta and Bologna themselves, another potential curveball.
