Mike Penders will have a role at Chelsea next season

It’s been reported Alonso will have a say in transfers, and it’ll be interesting to see what players he wants, and which he decides need to be moved on.

Behdad Eghbali has said Chelsea’s youth focused recruitment model will be tweaked, but fans will only believe it when they see it.

There’s also decisions to make over a number of talented youngsters, with Penders falling into that category.

The 20-year-old has impressed on loan at Strasbourg this season, but the big question is whether he’s ready to be Chelsea’s number one next season.

Filip Jorgensen will likely leave this summer, whilst there are doubts over the long term future of Robert Sanchez.

SkySport.ch has reported Penders will return to Chelsea this summer and fully integrate into the first team squad next season.

The report adds the decision was made internally at the end of the season, with Chelsea set to offer him the status of main competitor for the number one role, before entrusting him with the position for many years.

Penders made 52 appearances in all competitions for Strasbourg this season, and kept 12 clean sheets in the process.
