Juventus Enter Curtis Jones Race as Liverpool Set £35m Asking Price

Curtis Jones’ Liverpool future has taken another significant turn, with Sports Boom reporting that Juventus have now joined Inter Milan in the race for the midfielder.

The report states: “A heavyweight battle between Italy’s two biggest clubs is set to erupt after Juventus joined Inter Milan in the race to sign Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones.”

That development matters. Inter’s interest has been long standing, but Juventus entering the conversation changes the dynamic. Liverpool now have two major Serie A clubs circling a player with one year remaining on his deal, and that could strengthen their hand.

Liverpool Stand Firm on Valuation

According to Sports Boom, Liverpool “will not accept anything less than £35million for Jones despite the growing interest from Italy.”

That position feels clear. The club are not expected to hand Jones a new long term contract, but they are equally unwilling to allow an academy graduate with Premier League, Champions League and international pedigree to leave cheaply.

The report adds that “Liverpool are keen to cash in rather than risk losing him for a reduced fee further down the line.” With Andoni Iraola newly installed as head coach, this summer is already shaping up as one of recalibration.

Jones, despite his roots, experience and versatility, is now “believed to be surplus to requirements.”

Jones Still Carries Real Pedigree

There is a danger in reducing this story to contract length alone. Jones is not a fringe youngster awaiting definition. He has made 228 Liverpool appearances, scored 22 goals and featured 153 times in the Premier League.

Sports Boom also notes his “trophy-laden career at Anfield,” including two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, two EFL Cups and the FIFA Club World Cup.

That is why Inter and Juventus see opportunity. At 25, Jones remains young enough to develop further, experienced enough to handle expectation and tactically flexible enough to appeal to coaches in Italy.

Bidding War Could Help Liverpool

The most important line in the report may be this: “Both Juventus and Inter believe he could thrive in Serie A, and the prospect of a bidding war may yet work in Liverpool’s favour.”

Liverpool’s challenge is obvious. Sell too low and they risk weakening a midfield that already requires work. Hold too firm and they could lose value as Jones moves closer to free agency.

£35million feels like the line in the sand. Whether either Italian club crosses it may define the next stage of Jones’ career.

Our View – Anfield Index Analysis

For many Liverpool supporters, this report will land badly. Curtis Jones is not just another squad player on a spreadsheet. He is a Scouser, an academy graduate and someone who has grown through the club during one of its most successful modern periods.

There is frustration because Liverpool appear ready to lose a player who still has tactical value. Jones can carry the ball, play under pressure, understand Anfield and fill several midfield roles. After the collapse of 2025/26, supporters expected smart rebuilding, not a careless stripping away of useful depth.

The £35million asking price also feels uncomfortable. In today’s market, that is not huge money for a 25-year-old England international with 153 Premier League appearances. If Liverpool are selling because Jones has one year left, that reflects poor planning as much as ruthless squad management.

There is also the emotional element. Fans watched local players like Steven Gerrard and Trent Alexander-Arnold become symbols of the club. Jones may not be at that level, but his connection still matters.

If Iraola has a clear plan, supporters will accept difficult decisions. But if Jones leaves and Liverpool do not replace his quality properly, this could become another decision that looks clever in June and costly by October.
