Inter Milan wingback Denzel Dumfries is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after undergoing ankle surgery.

According to FCInterNews, the 29-year-old could be out for around four months, leaving Cristian Chivu short of reliable options on the flank.

Denzel Dumfries has already missed Inter’s last seven matches across all competitions due to an ankle problem.

However, the Dutch star will not return to action anytime soon. Indeed, he is likely to miss a large chunk of the season.

With Dumfries facing a four-month stop, there’s an emergency on the right wing.

Unfortunately, marquee summer signing Luis Henrique has failed to live up to expectations.

Despite occasional flashes of talent, the Brazilian’s overall impression has been rather bleak.

Therefore, Inter would be well-advised to dive back into the market to replace the former PSV Eindhoven star.
