There’s reportedly still a chance for veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer to stay at Inter Milan for one more season.
According to L’Interista, the Nerazzurri have not yet discarded the possibility of extending the 37-year-old’s expiring contract.
Yann Sommer joined Inter from Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023 to replace Andre Onana, who left for Manchester United.
Impressively, the Swiss shot-stopper won the Scudetto in his first year in Serie A.
Furthermore, he helped the Nerazzurri reach the Champions League final last term, only for Paris Saint-Germain to batter the Italian side in Munich.
However, Sommer’s contract expires in June, with Inter already scouring the market for a new long-term option between the sticks.
Despite being in the autumn of his playing career, Sommer has a guaranteed starting berth at San Siro.
Indeed, Cristian Chivu has trusted the Swiss veteran over Josep Martinez, even though the former has had several ups and downs throughout the campaign.
Still, Sommer’s days at San Siro looked numbered until recently, but Inter could still offer him a short-term contract extension.
Meanwhile, Beppe Marotta remains in the market for a new goalkeeper, with Guglielmo Vicario emerging as the club’s top target.
