Ivory Coast manager Emerse Fae has left Inter Milan striker Ange-Yoan Bonny out of his squad for the upcoming March friendlies.
According to FCInterNews, Fae remains concerned about the 22-year-old’s commitment to representing the African nation.
Despite representing France at virtually every youth level, Ange-Yoan Bonny has yet to make his senior debut for Les Bleus.
Furthermore, competition for places in Didier Deschamps’ squad is as fierce as it gets.
Worried about his prospects with the French, Bonny has reportedly decided to represent the Ivory Coast.
However, he’s still waiting for his maiden call-up.
Fae’s side will face South Korea and Scotland later this month, as they kick off preparations for the upcoming FIFA World Cup.
Indeed, Les Elephants will make a long-awaited return to the most prestigious international tournament this summer.
The Ivorians failed to qualify for the 2018 and 2022 editions.
However, they’ll compete in the North American-held showpiece in the summer.
Meanwhile, Bonny is desperate to appear in the tournament, but Fae has been reluctant to include him in his squad so far.
Therefore, Bonny’s international future remains in limbo for the time being.
