Inter are considering a move for Lazio midfielder Nicolo Rovella, if enough funds are raised from the potential sale of Hakan Calhanoglu to Galatasaray.

According to reports from the Corriere dello Sport, Rovella’s contract with Lazio contains a €50 million release clause – which the Nerazzurri could be prepared to activate if they sell Turkish midfielder Calhanoglu.

Calhanoglu is the subject of interest from Turkish Super Lig side Galatasaray. However, an opening bid from the Turkish club amounted to just €15 million, somewhat below Inter’s €40 million. The reports suggest that if this asking price is not met, the Serie A side will not sell.

Questions surrounding the future of Rovella

Rovella has been impressive for Lazio since signing on a two-year loan deal in 2023, which included a €20 million obligation to buy. The player is reportedly very happy in the Italian capital, choosing the club over others in 2023 and expecting a baby in September with his partner (who is also a Lazio fan).

Therefore, the reports from Italy suggest that the midfielder is in no rush to leave the Biancocelesti and that Lazio president Claudio Lotito will not sell under for any amount under the release clause.
