Liverpool are Wembley-bound once again, with Arne Slot’s side set to face Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final. After a commanding 4-0 victory over Tottenham in the second leg of the semi-final, the Reds overturned a 1-0 deficit to book their place in the showpiece event.
The final, taking place on Sunday, March 16, will see Liverpool aim to add another piece of silverware to their collection, while Newcastle will be desperate to end a 70-year wait for a major trophy. With the demand for tickets at an all-time high, Liverpool FC have issued an urgent statement regarding official ticket sales, resale bans, and the dangers of fraudulent sellers.
Liverpool FC have made it clear—tickets for the final should only be purchased directly from the club. In a statement released on their official website, the club emphasised the risks of buying tickets from unauthorised sources.
“Liverpool FC is urging fans to only purchase tickets for the Carabao Cup final from the club, as it is the only official seller of LFC tickets for the Wembley clash with Newcastle United on Sunday, March 16,” the statement read.
Supporters who buy from unofficial sellers risk being denied entry to Wembley, with ticket checks taking place on matchday.
“If supporters do purchase tickets from unofficial sellers, the club will not be in a position to help if they are refused entry.”
For this year’s final, Liverpool FC will once again use digital ticketing, a system successfully implemented in 2024. However, the club clarified that these digital tickets are not NFC-enabled but will still be stored in supporters’ smartphone wallets.
“This year, the digital tickets will be added to supporters’ ticketing accounts and will be available to download from ‘My Account’ in the week leading up to the game. There will be no official tickets in circulation ahead of this date, so please beware of any fake tickets.”
Fans should be aware that tickets are strictly non-transferable, and the club has warned against accepting offers from any source other than Liverpool FC.
“If any supporter is offered tickets or is aware of tickets being offered for sale, they can report this anonymously here.”
Liverpool FC has taken a strong stance against ticket touting and fraudulent sales, issuing lifetime bans to those caught selling tickets illegally. Last season alone, the club took decisive action against offenders.
“Last season alone, LFC shut down almost 100,000 fake ticketing accounts while issuing 75 lifetime bans and 136 indefinite suspensions.”
The club has since increased investment in anti-touting measures, responding to the growing number of supporters being scammed online.
Liverpool’s message is clear: avoid unofficial sellers, report touting, and only purchase through the club. With Wembley set to be a sea of red, ensuring that genuine fans secure tickets safely remains the club’s priority.
