Liverpool’s work in the summer transfer window has been widely praised, but it appears the club are far from finished in their squad building. According to CaughtOffside, the Reds have clear long-term plans and are looking to add further elite talent to Arne Slot’s side. Michael Olise and Marc Guehi are reportedly at the top of Liverpool’s list, with both players seen as ideal additions to strengthen key areas.
Sources have indicated that Liverpool remain “confident” of winning the race for Marc Guehi when he becomes a free agent next summer. Crystal Palace blocked a late move for the England international during the last transfer window, but it is now expected he will see out his contract and leave for nothing in a year’s time.

Although Real Madrid have been linked, there is no sense of concern from Liverpool’s end. One source told CaughtOffside that the Reds had already agreed personal terms with Guehi earlier in the summer, suggesting they are in pole position to secure his signature. “Liverpool remain confident that they’re leading the race for Guehi,” the report adds.
Liverpool’s planning is not limited to defensive reinforcements. Michael Olise has emerged as their preferred option to succeed Mohamed Salah in the long term. “Olise is top of Liverpool’s list,” one source said. “He’s seen by many at Liverpool as a natural Salah heir.”

Bayern Munich may be reluctant to part ways with the former Crystal Palace man, particularly after his rapid rise in Germany, but their recent acquisition of Luis Diaz gives them depth and could yet open the door for negotiations.
With Guehi one of the most attractive free agents set to be available, competition is inevitable, yet Liverpool’s relaxed stance is telling. Sources close to the club view stories of rival interest as “noise”, and there is a quiet confidence that both Guehi and Olise can be persuaded to commit to Liverpool’s project.

This forward-thinking approach reflects a club looking to maintain their competitiveness at the top level while also preparing for key transitions in the squad.
The thought of adding Marc Guehi on a free transfer is an absolute masterstroke. To get a defender of his calibre without paying a fee shows clever planning and patience. Palace blocking the move in the summer might have been frustrating, but it now feels like Liverpool are playing the long game perfectly.
The idea of Michael Olise as Salah’s long-term successor is equally thrilling. He is creative, technically brilliant and fearless, exactly the type of player who can electrify Anfield. It is reassuring that the club are looking ahead rather than scrambling at the last minute.
With Real Madrid and other big clubs likely to circle, hearing that Liverpool view their interest as “noise” shows quiet confidence. This is a club that knows what it wants and is acting decisively to make it happen. If both deals come off, it could be a summer that shapes Liverpool’s next era of success.
