Manchester United desperately need new signings at the club considering their recent performances.
They have been one of the most inconsistent teams in the Premier League this season and in their latest defeat against Brighton at Old Trafford, they were completely outplayed.
It was a result that showed once again that they need more quality and depth in their squad.
The arrival of manager Ruben Amorim has shown some signs of improvement with impressive recent results against Manchester City and Liverpool in the Premier League and against Arsenal in the FA Cup.
However, it has only acted as paper over the cracks, showing that their squad is nowhere near good enough to compete in the league.
The one position that they are ready to strengthen on a priority basis is the left-back position.
Luke Shaw has been injured for a long time while Tyrell Malacia has been out of form since coming back from his injury.
According to Football Insider, Man United are targeting a move for Paris Saint-Germain left-back Nuno Mendes and they are leading the race against Manchester City to sign the Portugal international.
Mendes is a talented full-back who also contributes to the team in the attacking third.

United would be hoping that the defender could jump the ship soon and join them at Old Trafford.
A move in the January transfer window to Man United is highly unlikely and the two Manchester clubs are expected to fight for his signature in the summer transfer window.
Even Manchester City are desperate for a new-left back after using centre-backs in that position.
Josko Gvardiol, Nathan Ake and Manuel Akanji have all been used in that position but they are all centre-backs and Pep Guardiola need a natural left-back who can solve his team’s problems in that position.
In terms of transfers related to Man United, Antony is soon heading out of the club to join La Liga side Real Betis in a loan move.
