Napoli confident of completing permanent deal with Manchester United

Napoli ready to activate clause

Napoli are growing increasingly confident of finalising a permanent deal for Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund, according to Caught Offside. The 22-year-old joined the Italian side on loan during the summer, with the agreement including a purchase clause that can be activated at the end of the season.

A source close to negotiations stated, “Napoli are confident. They’re in a strong position with the buy clause and they’re ready to activate it. Talks have been taking place and it should be finalised soon, ready to formally go through at the end of the season.”

Fresh start in Italy

After a difficult spell at Old Trafford, Hojlund appears to have rediscovered form and confidence in Serie A. His return to Italy, where he previously impressed with Atalanta, has been marked by consistent performances and renewed sharpness in front of goal.

Napoli are believed to be preparing a contract offer that will run until 2030, viewing the Danish forward as part of their long-term rebuild under new management.

For Hojlund, the move represents an opportunity to re-establish his career in a system better suited to his strengths, while United prepare to recalibrate their attacking strategy ahead of the summer window.

Manchester United supporters had high hopes for Hojlund when he arrived, but the Premier League can be unforgiving for a young striker adapting to its intensity and expectations. His struggles in front of goal were not entirely his fault, as United’s inconsistency and lack of creativity limited his service.

If the permanent move to Napoli goes through, many fans will wish him well but question the timing. Selling a promising 22-year-old could come back to haunt the club if he continues to flourish in Italy. United’s recent history is littered with players who have left, only to thrive elsewhere, and the hope is that lessons will finally be learned about long-term development and patience.

Still, the deal could offer financial flexibility ahead of the next transfer window. For Hojlund, this new chapter could be the making of him, and for United, another reminder of the need for better planning and tactical balance in attack.
