French giants Olympique Marseille will not purchase Inter Milan star Benjamin Pavard at the end of his loan spell.
According to RMC Sport via FCInterNews, Les Olympiens have decided not to activate the buyout clause in their agreement with the Nerazzurri.
Benjamin Pavard joined Marseille on a season-long loan last summer after falling out of favor at San Siro.
Furthermore, Inter signed Manuel Akanji from Manchester City in a similar deal in the final hours of the summer transfer window.
After an impressive first season in Serie A, the Swiss center-back looks set to earn a permanent contract in Milan.
Therefore, there will be no room for Pavard to return to his parent club in the summer.
Despite an affordable €15 million purchase option, Marseille will not keep Pavard at the Stade Velodrome next season.
However, that’s quite odd, considering the 30-year-old has been always-present in the starting lineup this season.
Indeed, the former Bayern Munich star has made 32 appearances for the French side, helping them stay within touching distance of a top-four finish in Ligue 1.
With Marseille unwilling to make Pavard’s transfer permanent, the Frenchman will return to San Siro, but Inter have already decided to put him up for sale.
