Serie A giants Milan and Juventus are reportedly contemplating an audacious summer swoop for Pep Guardiola. According to Spanish news outlet Sport via Calciomercato.it, the two Italian powerhouses are interested in bringing one of the greatest managers of all time to Serie A.

Pep Guardiola is on the verge of leaving Manchester City after ten years. Indeed, the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager has announced his departure at the end of the season. He will bid farewell to the Etihad Stadium on Sunday when the Cityzens take on Aston Villa in the Premier League season finale.

Recently linked with Italy’s national football team, Guardiola is more likely to stay in the realm of club management. Indeed, he has emerged as a potential candidate to take charge of the Azzurri now that there’s a vacant spot in the wake of Gennaro Gattuso’s departure. However, it looks like the 55-year-old has other plans.

Milan & Juventus Set to Go Head-to-Head for Pep Guardiola

In addition to being one of the most trophy-laden managers in football history, Guardiola is also among the highest-paid coaches in Europe. His current salary at Man City is reported to be around £20 million, making it virtually impossible for Milan and Juventus to meet such terms.

However, wealthy clubs from the Middle East wouldn’t have such issues. Furthermore, several Saudi Pro League sides have already set their sights on Guardiola. With that in mind, it’s hard to expect Guardiola to move to Serie A in the summer unless he agrees to take a major pay cut.
