Arsenal Eye Gordon Amid Newcastle Utd Stance on Summer Move

Gordon’s future a major talking point ahead of summer window

Newcastle Utd are preparing to fend off major interest in Anthony Gordon, with Arsenal circling ahead of the summer transfer window. The winger, who has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at St James’ Park, is now reportedly a top target for the Gunners. However, Newcastle’s stance remains firm — they will only consider a sale for what has been described as “big, big money.”

The 23-year-old has been a key figure in Newcastle’s push for Champions League qualification. Eddie Howe’s side have turned heads in the latter part of the season, climbing to third in the Premier League after a slow start. Gordon’s dynamism and direct play have been pivotal in that rise, and it’s no surprise top clubs are watching closely.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are unwilling to part with Gordon easily. “Big, big money” would be required if they were “forced” to sell. Internally, the club are determined to keep the England international “at all costs” and would explore other ways to raise funds “before even contemplating” a sale.

Arsenal’s attacking options under the spotlight

While Arsenal’s admiration for Gordon has been confirmed, whether they can match Newcastle’s valuation remains doubtful. Reports suggest there is “doubt” that Arsenal “will be willing to spend the kind of money” the Magpies will demand.

Mikel Arteta’s side are assessing several options up front, with a long-standing interest in Newcastle striker Alexander Isak also still alive. TEAMtalk have reported Isak is on a three-man striker shortlist that also includes RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres.

Sources close to the situation indicate that Newcastle are in a strong selling position regarding Arsenal’s preferred targets. While Gordon is viewed as a “dream” option at Emirates Stadium, Gyökeres is understood to be seen as “exceptional value,” which could sway the club’s decision.

The possibility now exists that Arsenal may pursue neither Gordon nor Isak, especially if valuations prove prohibitive. Any movement will depend not just on availability, but on how aggressive Arsenal choose to be in negotiations — and whether Newcastle are willing to soften their stance.

Newcastle Utd determined to retain key assets

With European football likely next season, Newcastle have no pressing need to offload stars. Financially, they are in a position to resist offers unless they significantly outweigh market value. Anthony Gordon has become a symbol of their progress under Howe, and his departure would send a message the club are not keen to deliver.

Despite growing speculation, no concrete bids have yet been tabled. However, interest from top-six rivals is being monitored closely on Tyneside, with Gordon likely to be one of the most discussed names heading into the summer window.

Arsenal exploring defensive shake-up

Elsewhere, Arsenal could be set for some surprising changes in defence. Reports indicate they are open to selling William Saliba to Real Madrid, should the Spanish giants include promising youngsters Endrick and Arda Güler as part of any deal.

Meanwhile, uncertainty surrounds Raheem Sterling’s future at the club. While no obligation to buy exists, there is ambiguity over whether the winger will stay, with his camp still in the dark regarding Arsenal’s long-term intentions.

In terms of reinforcements, Brentford’s Nathan Collins has emerged as a target. The Republic of Ireland international ranks among the league’s best in aerial duels won — second only to Dan Burn and Virgil van Dijk — and has impressed scouts with his physicality and consistency.

Arsenal appear poised for an ambitious summer, but whether they can prise Gordon away from a resilient Newcastle side remains to be seen.
