Liverpool fans are no strangers to transfer speculation, especially when it surrounds top performers. Alexis Mac Allister, who has emerged as one of the Premier League’s most complete midfielders over the past season, is now the subject of fresh links to Real Madrid. According to Defensa Central, the Argentine midfielder has not ruled out a future move to Spain — and Los Blancos are keeping tabs.
“The Argentine footballer, despite being perfectly settled in the English League with a position of maximum football responsibility in Liverpool, does not hide his desire to land in LaLiga in the coming years. Real Madrid knows firsthand as Central Defense has been able to confirm,” their report states.
It’s no secret that Mac Allister’s trajectory since his move from Brighton has been nothing short of spectacular. He’s already won a World Cup, a Premier League title, and become a fan favourite at Anfield with his intelligent movement, crisp passing, and positional awareness. In many ways, he’s grown into a Gerrard-esque figure — decisive in big games, reliable in tight moments, and clearly a leader on the pitch.
The good news for Liverpool supporters is that Real Madrid are unlikely to act immediately. As Defensa Central clarifies, “… the white sports management will keep their distance from Alexis Mac Allister for the time being.” So this isn’t about a swoop this summer, or even next — it’s more about long-term admiration and a watchful eye being kept.

Mac Allister remains under contract at Anfield until 2028, and reports suggest a new deal could be offered within the next year. That would significantly strengthen Liverpool’s position, but we all know contracts in football only mean so much when the right offer lands.
Mac Allister’s versatility — dropping into a defensive role when needed, while also carrying the ball and contributing in attack — makes him a prized asset. Real Madrid have always loved technically gifted, tactically flexible midfielders. In fact, it’s hard not to see shades of Luka Modrić in the way Mac Allister moves and manipulates the game.
Liverpool will have to brace themselves for future interest, especially if trophies continue to flow and Mac Allister keeps performing on the European stage.
If Liverpool want to avoid another drawn-out saga like those of Coutinho or Emre Can in years gone by, they’ll need to get ahead of this early. A contract extension, complete with a robust release clause and long-term assurances, could prove vital.
From a Liverpool fan’s perspective, the Defensa Central report isn’t panic-inducing just yet — but it is a reminder of where the club stands in the global football food chain. Mac Allister is a world-class talent, and Real Madrid’s interest in him shouldn’t come as a surprise. After all, when you’re winning titles and delivering week in, week out, clubs like Madrid will always hover.
There’s also the realism that fans have adopted post-Gerrard: no player is truly untouchable anymore. We’ve seen stars like Torres, Suarez, and Coutinho move on despite seemingly deep bonds with the club. What matters now is how the club responds.
Liverpool need to show Mac Allister that this is a project worth sticking with. That means competing for top honours, building a world-class team under Arne Slot, and giving the Argentine both responsibility and reward. A new contract, symbolically and financially, would be a huge gesture of intent.
And let’s not forget — Mac Allister himself has made no move to force an exit. He seems happy, involved, and central to Slot’s plans. But fans should stay alert. Madrid don’t ask twice when they see the right opportunity.
If Liverpool continue to win, and if the midfielder continues to thrive in his current role, maybe — just maybe — the lure of Anfield can outweigh the lights of the Bernabéu.
