Napoli striker Lorenzo Lucca could continue his career in the Turkish Super Lig after Trabzonspor informed the Italian club of their interest. According to Corriere dello Sport via Calciomercato, the Turkish giants are ready to step up their bid for the 25-year-old.

Lucca joined Napoli from Udinese last summer on loan with a mandatory buyout clause. However, after a disappointing first half of the season, he moved to Nottingham Forest on a short-term loan, hoping to get his career back on track.

The move didn’t work out as expected. Lucca scored one goal in just four Premier League appearances before returning to Napoli this summer. However, Massimiliano Allegri’s men are now looking to sell their flop permanently.

Napoli paid Udinese around €35 million in total to secure Lucca’s services. As such, it’s hardly surprising that they’re keen to recoup a sizeable chunk of that investment.

Our take on Napoli, Trabzon & Lucca

Lucca’s former teammate, Romelu Lukaku, has found a safe haven in Turkey, joining Fenerbahce earlier this month. The Italian center-forward could follow a similar path, with Trabzon reportedly looking to pair him up with their marquee signing, Mohamed Salah.

Trabzon had been close to signing Al-Hilal superstar Darwin Nunez, but the deal collapsed at the 11th hour. Therefore, they’ve now switched their attention toward Lucca, whom they see as an upgrade on Paul Onuachu. Yet, they’d have to meet Napoli’s asking price.

Meanwhile, Napoli have already set their sights on Gabriel Jesus, who could soon cut ties with Arsenal. Joshua Zirkzee is another option for Allegri’s side, but the Manchester United outcast is also on Juventus’ radar.
