Report: Xabi Alonso wants €80m rated Premier League star as he plots Chelsea rebuild | OneFootball

Chelsea have identified Brentford’s Igor Thiago as a transfer target as they look to sign a striker this summer according to reports.

With Xabi Alonso appointed the Blues face a critical summer, with the squad requiring reinforcements in a number of key areas.

Chelsea are said to be in the market for a centre back, whilst it’s thought they want to add another midfielder and attacker.

Chelsea identify Igor Thiago as a summer target

Alonso will reportedly have a say in transfers, whilst Behdad Eghbali has said the recruitment model will be tweaked.

It’s believed Chelsea are prepared to target players with proven Premier League experience, and they’ve already been linked with Morgan Rogers.

With doubts over the future of Liam Delap, and Barcelona’s interest in Joao Pedro, Chelsea could well look to add another striker.

The Blues have previously been linked with Thiago, and FussballDaten has reported Xabi Alonso has made the signing of the Brazilian one of his priorities.

The report adds Thiago would cost around €80m, and Alonso sees him as striker who can solve the lack of efficiency in front of goal.

Thiago has scored 22 league goals this season, compared to 15 for Pedro, whilst Delap has managed just one, and hasn’t scored since January.
