Report Zaniolo closer to Udinese agreement on new contract | OneFootball

Nicolò Zaniolo and Udinese have reportedly made progress in talks for a new contract, after he had abandoned training and tried to offer himself to Milan.

This is quite an odd situation for the 27-year-old, because he arrived from Galatasaray on deadline day last summer, on loan with an option to buy for a total of €7.5m plus a 50 per cent cut of the future sale fee.

However, it was rushed through with the proviso that if Udinese activated the option to make it permanent, they would negotiate an improved salary.

That has proved to be difficult, with the player refusing to attend pre-season training, presenting a medical certificate from his doctor.

His agent had tried to offer him to other clubs, above all Milan, but Sky Sport Italia now report that Zaniolo is edging closer to an agreement with Udinese.

His contract runs to June 2029, but the player wants improved wages and terms.

It is suggested there could be a full agreement within 24 hours, so he could return to training on Monday or Tuesday.

Zaniolo scored six goals with six assists in 34 games for Udinese last season.
