AC Milan intend to let their new head coach have a say in the summer transfer window, and two names have emerged in this respect.
With Milan currently ninth in the Serie A table and no Champions League football in 2025-26 now virtually a certainty, some big decisions face the current management. There are huge changes expected, above all in the sporting director and head coach roles.
There is also a lot of uncertainty about what direction the club will take in said roles, though it does seem to be quite clear that there is an intention to increase the Italian influence on both the managerial and squad side of things.
As reported by La Repubblica (via MilanNews24), Milan transfer moves in view of next season will obviously be intertwined with the choice of the new coach, or with the confirmation of Sergio Conceicao even if it seems highly unlikely.
For the head coach role, Massimiliano Allegri is a name that the current management are continuing to consider, while also evaluating various sporting director candidates. More will be understood after the Coppa Italia final, a key match for Conceiçao too.
Another name to watch is Maurizio Sarri, whose stock is rising amid talks of contacts having begun. If the former Lazio and Napoli boss were to arrive, the first move would be to sign a proper regista (deep-lying playmaker).
The name for that role has already been identified: Samuele Ricci of Torino. There have been numerous reports over the past few weeks suggesting he is the No.1 target in view of the summer, though there will likely be some tough negotiations and competition to contend with.
