The football associations for the Republic of Ireland and Wales have declared their interest in hosting the 2029 Women’s Champions League final.
UEFA revealed that seven nations are interested in hosting the competition’s final in 2028 and 2029.
Arsenal are the defending champions after their victory over Barcelona in May, while Oslo will host the final of this year’s competition.
The Football Association of Wales (FAW) and the Football Association of Ireland (FAI) have both released statements confirming their intention to host the 2029 Women’s Champions League final.
Should Wales win the bid, the final will be played at the National Stadium of Wales in Cardiff (also known as the Principality Stadium).
Dublin Arena would host the final if Ireland is granted the final.
The FAW said that securing the 2029 Women’s Champions League final would provide an opportunity to ‘inspire greater participation in the sport’ and ‘strengthen the grassroots’ system in Wales.
Meanwhile, the FAI said they would consider submitting a formal bid based on the understanding of the legacy potential, delivery feasibility and any financial considerations.
The Dublin and Cardiff proposals face stiff competition from two other potential stadiums.
France and Switzerland have also declared their interest in hosting the 2029 Women’s Champions League final.
Switzerland hosted the record-breaking Euro 2025 tournament and hope to host the final at St. Jakob Park in Basel – where England emerged victorious to win the European Championship trophy
France also hopes to stage a Women’s Champions League final at the Parc Olympique Lyonnais – the home of Lyon.
Both France and Switzerland have also put their stadiums forward for the 2028 Women’s Champions League final.
In 2028, Spain and Turkey have also submitted interest in hosting the final.

Ireland and Wales’ declarations of interests are not binding and a final dossier must be submitted by June 10th, 2026.
UEFA will then decide who will host the finals in September 2026.
Wales is set to host the UEFA U19 Championship in 2026, and alongside the Republic of Ireland, England and Scotland will host the men’s Euro 2028 tournament.
England, Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland are also the sole bidders to host the 2035 Women’s World Cup.
Cardiff hosted the 2017 Women’s Champions League final at Cardiff City Stadium and the final of the men’s competition that same year at the Principality Stadium.
The Dublin Arena hosted the men’s Europa League final in 2024, but the Republic of Ireland has never hosted the men’s or women’s Champions League finals.
