Lorenzo Pellegrini is still awaiting a contract renewal, but a breakthrough could come soon.
The Roma midfielder did not travel with the team to their training camp in Wales: he is continuing his recovery in the capital, where he trains with a personal trainer and has now almost completely recovered from the injury he suffered at the end of last season.
However, there is one last crucial step before the final agreement is reached: the final approval of the Friedkin ownership is needed for a contract extension.
According to Il Messaggero, the club had initially put a one-year extension on the table, expiring in 2027, an offer that didn’t entirely convince the player, who instead leaned toward a longer deal, ideally lasting three seasons.
As the days passed, however, the gap seems to have narrowed significantly.
The most likely option now is a two-year contract extension with an option for a third, with a salary of around €2.5 million per season. Pellegrini has reportedly accepted a significant pay cut in order to stay at Roma and continue his journey with the Giallorossi.
