The Lega Serie A could bump the final matches of Inter Milan and Napoli forward in order to make room for a title playoff.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

The possibility that Inter Milan and Napoli will face each other in a “playoff” for the Serie A title remains a concrete one.

If the two teams end the season level on points at the top of the league table, that would be how they would settle the Scudetto.

Napoli are three points ahead of Inter with three matches to go. However, if the Partenopei were to slip up, then it would open the door for the Nerazzurri.

Inter and Napoli could certainly go into the final day of the season with just one result separating them in the table.

The Nerazzurri’s final match of the season is against Como. Meanwhile, Napoli’s is against Cagliari.

Therefore, the concern is that if the two teams play those matches on the final weekend of the season and end up with results that see them level on points, it would cause a major scheduling headache with the title playoff.

Inter, in the meantime, play the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain On May 31st.

Therefore, there is a major obstacle to pencilling in a potential title playoff against Napoli.

Meanwhile, Inter will be preparing for the start of the Club World Cup in June.

According to the Gazzetta, the Lega Serie A could bump forward Inter and Napoli’s final matches of the season.

The newspaper note potential dates for the matches on Wednesday the 21st and Thuesday the 22nd.

Then, a potential playoff could be on Sunday the 25th or Monday the 26th.

Inter, however, would hardly be thrilled with such timing ahead of the Champions League final.
