Premier League-bound Ipswich Town hold all the cards in the Jens Cajuste transfer saga as Napoli are made to wait.

According to a report by Fabrizio Romano via Calcio Napoli 24, the confusion was cleared up surrounding a possible permanent transfer of Napoli loanee Jens Cajuste to the Portman Road dwellers. The Tractor Boys gained promotion to the English top flight from the Championship this season, and that satisfied the first condition behind a mandatory signing of the Swedish midfielder.

While the promotion helps Ipswich Town receive a significant budgetary boost, they are now eligible to make the call over Cajuste’s future. There is a €7.5million buyout clause inserted in the loan deal, and the Suffolk-based side would have been obligated to buy the player by paying the fee to the Partenopei if Cajuste hit the 50% apperance threshold. He featured in roughly 30 games throughout the season, and mostly as a substitute.

Ipswich have the right of redemption for the player till June 10, and if the club decides to go against the permanent signing, the 26-year-old will return to Napoli after that date.
