Sunday saw the major vaunted big debut of superstar January signing Andreas Skov Olsen. Andreas Skov Olsen’s debut against Dundee was as a starter, a pleasant surprise given previous managers rarely started new signings.

Thrown straight in

Danny Rohl threw this one straight in at the deep end. While we are not saying he was incredible, he had a solid match. SofaScore rated him around 7.4. That is decent for someone who does not know the league well.

The numbers tell a story

Consequently, his individual stats were pretty good. Passing was almost 90%. He had three crossing attempts. Two failed the mark. One nailed it.

That one, of course, was the technical non assist for the early goal that was ruled out. It was a top notch delivery.

Work off the ball

He also had defensive contributions. That was a middle finger to those saying he does not track back. His touches were impressive. He had a solid 39 touches. He only had two unsuccessful ones.

Furthermore, he attempted one major dribble. It was successful.

Early signs of quality

Was Skov Olsen outstanding? No. He is still learning the league. Of course he is. However, he had more of a quality look about him.

His early interchanging on the flank with Tavernier showed understanding. That came before the disallowed goal. It was a decent chunk of link up.

What comes next

We were curious about Kevin Thomson comments on Andreas Skov Olsen’s debut. We will get to those later. Nevertheless, while Skov Olsen did not look like Messi he was certainly decent. There are signs of a quality international.

We are very much looking forward to what he produces. That will come as he tunes into the club and league. The coming weeks and months will tell.
