In the ongoing discussions surrounding Lamine Yamal’s fitness and recovery, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzan, has sought to diffuse any hint of tension between the Spanish national team and FC Barcelona.
In his recent public appearance, Louzan made it clear that the federation will not fuel any controversy over the handling of the young winger’s recent medical treatment.
Louzan’s comments come after Yamal was released from Spain’s squad for the upcoming matches against Georgia and Turkey, following a decision made jointly by the medical teams of Barcelona and the player’s representatives.
The 18-year-old has been dealing with pubic discomfort for several weeks and underwent an invasive radiofrequency procedure on November 10 to address the issue.
According to reports, this procedure was carried out without prior notification to the national team’s medical staff, a detail that initially raised eyebrows within the federation.
Interestingly, Louzan has since downplayed any potential friction, instead choosing to emphasise cooperation and player welfare.
“We have to take care of the player,” he said, as quoted by MARCA.
“Sometimes there are circumstances that could be handled better, but Lamine is both a club player and a national team player.

“He is important to everyone. The main goal is for him to recover well.”
The RFEF president further added that unforeseen situations are part of football and that the focus should remain on Yamal’s health rather than administrative misunderstandings.
“These are unforeseen circumstances. We are not going to stir up any controversy.
“The most important thing is to have him fit, both for Barcelona and for Spain,” Louzan stated.
Inside Barcelona, there is relief that Yamal’s procedure went smoothly and that his recovery process is on track.
The club’s medical department has been in constant coordination with external specialists, ensuring the treatment was conducted by experts in the field.
For now, Barcelona’s priority is to ensure that the winger returns only when fully fit, avoiding any risk of relapse or long-term complications.
