Andoni Iraola will be wanting to lead Liverpool to a Premier League title this season.
The fact that they finished in fifth place last term is a travesty, especially after they broke the British transfer record twice.
Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz were expected to transform Liverpool's first-team squad but in reality, they just made it worse.
This realisation has led to the Anfield outfit needing to spend even more money on new players but, in order for them to do this, they'll need to raise some funds themselves.
There are a couple of players on the Reds' books who could end up being axed but, there's now one who almost certainly looks to be on his way out and it isn't Curtis Jones.
Alexis Mac Allister's performances last season were often hard to watch.
The Argentinian was a fraction of his former self and, even though he was one of Arne Slot's regular starters, it often felt like he'd forgotten how to run and he was always dispossessed by his opponents.
This lack of form led Liverpool's fanbase to demand that he was dropped and, even though he was for the odd game or two, the damage was already done.
Mac Allister may not have been at his best last term but, that hasn't stopped clubs such as Real Madrid from eyeing a move for him.
And now, thanks to an update from David Lynch via Anfield Index, it seems like Liverpool's stance has been made more than clear.
"Alexis Mac Allister is another one, not in the group of kind of untouchables at Liverpool," he said.
"So Liverpool could sell, but it’s a big if because someone has to come in with the right money.
"So no contract talks at all. So absolutely willing to sell them at the right price."
Even though Mac Allister was about as useful as a sack of potatoes in Liverpool's midfield last term, they'll still need to find themselves a replacement to fill the void he leaves behind.
The Argentinian was once seen as one of the Premier League's best midfielder's but, something just didn't click for him last term which is why the Reds are actively looking to move him on.
Before the summer transfer window even opened, Liverpool already had a couple of potential midfield targets lined up for them to try and sign.
And, while some deals have been taken off the table, moves for players such as Adam Wharton, Eduardo Camavinga and Lamine Camara could all still be on for the Anfield outfit this summer.
So, before they try to sell Mac Allister, who they signed for £35 million back in 2023, they must ensure that they have a back-up ready and raring to replace him.
Because, if they don't do this, they could find themselves in a whole world of trouble and potentially in an even worse situation than they ended up in during the 2026-27 campaign.
