Richard Ríos in Colombia’s 2026 World Cup squad with Sporting striker Luis Suárez | OneFootball

According to Glorioso 1904, Benfica midfielder Richard Ríos has been named in Colombia’s 2026 World Cup squad and will line up alongside Sporting striker Luis Suárez.

Signed from Palmeiras last summer for €27 million, he heads to the tournament after an intermittent campaign with Benfica.

He delivered eight goals and six assists in 45 appearances, and also featured at the 2024 Copa América.

The Colombia list includes former Porto pair James Rodríguez and Luis Díaz, plus regulars Davinson Sánchez, Jhon Lucumí, Yerry Mina, Jefferson Lerma, Juan Quintero, who also had a spell at Porto, and Jhon Arias.

Before the official call-up, Ríos said he felt he had earned his chance and was on the verge of the World Cup, adding that he was waiting for the list, speaking at an event in Bogotá.

Colombia are in Group K, facing debutants Uzbekistan on 17 June in Mexico City, DR Congo on 23 June in Zapopan, then Portugal on 27 June in Miami.
