Newcastle United went into Monday’s game as heavy favourites, but they slumped to a disappointing 2-0 loss to West Ham United.
The Magpies created many scoring chances but failed to put them away.
The defeat means Newcastle have dropped down to 10th in the Premier League, with 18 points from 12 matches.
Eddie Howe will be looking to make some quality additions in the January transfer window.
To enhance their spending power, the English boss will try to move on fringe players on big wages.
Manager Miguel Almiron doesn’t look to be part of Howe’s future plans, and Newcastle could cash in on him next month.
According to Soy del Millo, River Plate are working on a ‘dream deal’ for Almiron in January.
The forward is said to be a fan of the Argentine club and a transfer could be appealing for him.
Almiron joined the Tyneside club in the summer of 2019 for a fee around £21 million.
Since his arrival at St James’ Park, he has made 216 senior appearances, with 30 goals and 12 assists to his name.
Last season, he made 45 appearances across all competitions for Newcastle, but his fortunes have turned out to be very different this campaign.
The 30-year-old has made only a single Premier League start, with Jacob Murphy and Anthony Gordon ahead of him in the pecking order.
Almiron has a contract with the Magpies until 2026, but a good offer could tempt them to sell him in January.
