River have reached an agreement with Tigres of Mexico to sign Ángel Correa. The 31-year-old world champion has been head coach Eduardo "Chacho" Coudet's top target to strengthen the attack.
After weeks of strained talks, River revived negotiations and tabled a formal offer of US$15 million plus performance-related add-ons. According to SuperDepor.com, only administrative details remain before the deal is sealed.
Correa has made clear his wish to return to Argentina and wear the red sash, and he has skipped Tigres' first official matches as he pushes for an exit.
There is optimism in Núñez to complete the paperwork and formalise a purchase running until December 2029, while in Monterrey the atmosphere around the move has grown increasingly tense.
The protracted saga has provoked hostility from Tigres supporters towards the player. His wife, Sabrina Di Marzo, has reported receiving threats via her social media accounts.
