Rob Edwards explains reason for Joao Gomes' omission from Wolves squad | OneFootball

Wolves head coach Rob Edwards says Joao Gomes is not being risked at Burnley because of a knee problem.

According to ExpressAndStar.com, the Brazilian is expected to depart in the summer, with Atletico Madrid in talks for his signature. He has been left out of the squad for the final-day trip to Turf Moor.

Speaking before kick-off, Edwards said: "Joao is feeling his knee." He added: "He didn't train yesterday and we decided it wasn't right to push (him)."

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde is also absent from the matchday squad.

Edwards added: "It's sickness, he didn't report in yesterday and we sent the doctor out to go and see him." "He's got a sickness bug so we had to keep him away from the lads."
