Rob Edwards says Wolves are targeting the right characters to restore experience and leadership after relegation, with a move for Kieran Tripper progressing.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the club have agreed a two-year deal with the 35-year-old, with an option of a third, pending his medical and the final signatures. He is being brought in as a figure to hold team-mates to account.
Edwards accepts the squad have lacked that profile for some time and that it was not addressed last summer. He wants to correct the balance and argues age is secondary, saying younger players with strong English football experience can also lead, while citing Mane as a different kind of leader.
Wolves have also tied Andre to a new contract. Talks have taken place over bringing Raul Jimenez back to Molineux now his Fulham deal has expired.
Early steps have drawn praise from large sections of the fanbase after a miserable campaign ended in relegation. Although criticised late last season, Edwards is set to oversee the summer rebuild and says he is energised to drive the change, with core players staying and fresh faces arriving.
