Rob Edwards wants Pedro Lima to compete for a place in Wolves' side next season as the club prepare for the Championship.
According to ExpressAndStar.com, the 19-year-old has made just 12 senior appearances in two years since moving from Brazil and spent the first half of this season on loan at Porto, despite interest from Championship and League One clubs.
Edwards gave Lima his first Premier League start in more than a year against Spurs at the weekend. He now wants the defender pushing for minutes but underlined there will be competition and no guaranteed shirt.
He feels Lima looks stronger and more powerful and believes there is a future for him after bringing him back. Training levels have improved with extra individual work, and Edwards hopes to hand him more minutes before the season ends to build experience.
Edwards has already identified players he wants to keep for next season, while many will move on this summer. Goalkeeper Sam Johnstone is out for the season with a shoulder injury and, despite his Championship experience, is likely to move on. Asked about keeping Johnstone, Edwards declined to single out individuals, noted recent good performances and accepted there will be a need for change, adding time will tell.
Interest is expected in several players, with Atletico Madrid pushing to sign Joao Gomes. Edwards said he would be surprised if there was no interest, and nothing has been brought to him so far.
