Roberto De Zerbi has come out against staging the Trophée des Champions in Kuwait as OM prepare to face PSG there next Thursday at 19:00.

According to L'Équipe, the Marseille head coach told reporters on Friday that national super cups should be played in their own country in front of club supporters.

He said he will travel because it is his job and the team are proud to contest the game. He stressed there is no issue with Kuwait, which he expects to host them well, but he remains opposed to the concept.

The showpiece offers OM a chance to claim a first trophy since the 2012 Coupe de la Ligue.

De Zerbi was speaking ahead of Ligue 1 resuming and the visit of Nantes on Sunday at 15:00.
