Ruben Amorim’s failure to steady the ship at Manchester United has led to several managers being linked with the high-profile post at Old Trafford.

With just nine wins in 33 Premier League games since November 2024, Amorim has so far proven to be a disastrous appointment, breaking all sorts of unwanted records at United.

However, Sir Jim Ratcliffe and company are seemingly reluctant to accept that they made a mistake in picking their first manager. They continue to back the Portuguese tactician, who appears to be out of his depth, both on the touchline and in press conferences.

If Amorim fails to turn things around swiftly, the hierarchy will have no choice but to pull the trigger. Multiple reports have suggested United have already started exploring their options.

Manchester United interested in Premier League proven managers

According to TBR Football, United would prefer to appoint someone with Premier League experience.

Both Oliver Glasner and Andoni Iraola, who are working wonders at Crystal Palace and Bournemouth respectively, are thought to be on United’s radar.

It is claimed that United are also eyeing up Roberto De Zerbi, who enjoyed a promising stint at Brighton & Hove Albion before taking over the helm at Olympique de Marseille.

Marseille are flying under De Zerbi

The Red Devils reportedly like the ex-Brighton boss, known for his ultra-patient build-up and emphasis on dominating possession.

Marseille secured an impressive second-place finish in Ligue 1 and secured Champions League football in the Italian’s maiden campaign in France.

This term, Marseille have already beaten PSG in the league and Ajax in the Champions League.

Former United forward Mason Greenwood was on the scoresheet for the Phocaeans in their 4-0 win over the Dutch giants.

Greenwood has benefitted from De Zerbi’s attacking style of play, having directly been involved in 35 goals in 44 appearances since moving to the south of France.
