Robinho, former Santos, Palmeiras and Cruzeiro midfielder, retires aged 38

Robinho has retired from professional football aged 38. The player said in a social media post that he was grateful to supporters who followed his career.
Across a career that took in Santos, Avaí, Coritiba, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro, Grêmio, Paysandu and most recently Brusque, he played 821 matches, scoring 115 goals with 117 assists.
Notable promotions included reaching Serie A with Coritiba in 2021, Serie B with Paysandu in 2023 and the Paulista A1 with Mogi Mirim.
His honours include the 2011 Copa Libertadores with Santos and three Copa do Brasil crowns, one with Santos in 2015 and two with Cruzeiro in 2017 and 2018. He also won state championships in Santa Catarina twice, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Paraná twice, Pará and Minas Gerais twice.
He now moves into coaching as Náutico’s assistant, joining Hélio dos Anjos’ staff for the Campeonato Pernambucano, Copa do Nordeste, Copa do Brasil and Série B do Campeonato Brasileiro.
