Saints academy graduate Jay Robinson made his Serie A debut for loan side AC Monza at San Siro, coming on late as Monza, managed by ex-Saints boss Ivan Juric, lost 4-1 at Inter Milan. Daily Echo reports on the weekend’s loan action.
Hakan Calhanoglu struck early for Inter, before Gustavo Varela levelled for the visitors before half-time.
The hosts added three after the break, and Robinson entered in the 83rd minute on Monza’s top-flight return.
Elsewhere, midfielder Moses Sesay enjoyed a winning debut for Colchester United in League Two. The 19-year-old’s loan was confirmed on Friday, and he came on at half-time as the Us came from behind to beat Oldham Athletic 2-1 at home.
Nick Oyekunle also tasted victory in the EFL, appearing late in Leyton Orient’s 2-0 win at Wigan Athletic in League One. The striker made his first start earlier in the week in an EFL Trophy tie with AFC Wimbledon, which the Os won on penalties after a 1-1 draw.
Defender Tommy Dobson-Ventura, 19, has started all three of Eastleigh’s National League matches so far this season. He played the full 90 minutes as the Spitfires returned to winning ways with a 3-2 home success against Scunthorpe United.
