Former Flamengo president Rodolfo Landim is planning a return to the ballot in 2027, aiming to stop Luiz Eduardo Baptista, Bap, from remaining in charge.

According to Coluna Do Fla, Landim has held meetings in recent days in Rio de Janeiro to discuss a run when Bap’s first term ends in 2027. If he goes ahead and wins, Landim would return to the presidency after three years.

He is still weighing options for a running mate, with the expectation that Rodrigo Dunshee could be chosen. Dunshee contested the last club election but lost to Bap despite Landim’s support.

After that defeat, Landim attributed the setback to Bap’s early groundwork, so he intends to begin preparations sooner for the 2027 contest.

Landim won the 2018 election with Marcos Braz as vice-president, taking office in 2019 and serving until the end of 2024.

Bap is not expected to make it easy. The current president is seeking a statute change that would bar candidates who hold roles at other clubs, and Landim holds a stake in the SAF of Confiança.
