Rodri is expected to miss Manchester City’s trip to Burnley on Wednesday after suffering a groin problem late in the 2-1 win over Arsenal, L'Équipe reports. The Premier League fixture, part of the 34th round, is scheduled for 21:00.

Since returning in early January from a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee, the 29-year-old has missed only two City games, so this would be a setback.

He was replaced by Nico in the 88th minute against Arsenal because of the groin issue. Pep Guardiola said he does not think Rodri will be ready for Wednesday and that they will assess him for Saturday’s FA Cup semi-final against Southampton at 18:15.

Ruben Dias, who went off at half-time in the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Real Madrid, a 1-2 defeat, will also miss the Burnley trip. Guardiola said the Portugal centre-back is not yet ready. Burnley are 19th on 20 points and already condemned to relegation.

City trail leaders Arsenal by three points with a game in hand and can draw level if they win on Wednesday. Guardiola added that the Arsenal match was emotionally and physically demanding, and that the squad spoke about not easing off.
