Rodríguez, Sepúlveda steer Cruz Azul past Seattle and into CCC quarterfinals

MEXICO CITY — Cruz Azul earned a 4-1 victory against Seattle Sounders FC in the second leg of their Round of 16 series, with the Mexican side advancing 4-1 on aggregate, as the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup continued on Tuesday at Estadio Olímpico Universitario in Mexico City, Mexico.
Carlos Rodríguez opened the scoring in the 33', connecting with a cross from Gonzalo Piovi.
Ángel Sepúlveda extended the lead for the Mexican side in the 71' with a conversion from the penalty spot.
Danny Musovski pulled one back for the U.S. side in the 75', striking inside the box to take advantage of a free kick opportunity.
Luka Romero extended the lead for the hosts in the 85' before Jorge Sánchez added a fourth in the 88' to seal the series win.
The two sides played to a scoreless stalemate in the opening leg. Cruz Azul won the series 4-1 on aggregate to advance to the quarterfinals, where it awaits the winner of the Club America-CD Guadalajara series.
