England star Morgan Rogers says he is focused on staying grounded having risen to become one of the Premier League’s top attacking talents.

Currently at the World Cup with England, the Aston Villa attacker is believed to be one of Arsenal’s top targets this summer following another standout season at Villa Parl.

The 23-year-old was asked how he deals with the speculation surrounding him, and the pressure of playing for England. “Just take it day by day and enjoy it,” Rogers answered. “They’re the right conversations to be in.

“That’s the most important thing. It shows I’m doing something right and I’m going along the journey and going along the step in a forward direction. That’s what I want to do.

“I want to improve and get better. Being in the right circles and being in the right environment allows me to do that. Those conversations are nice.

“I won’t let them get too ahead of myself. But they are nice when people do talk about me in that way or want to put me against other players of class or quality.

“It’s just an honour to be a part of it compared to where I was and where I’ve got to. It’s really nice.”

Rogers joined Aston Villa just two-and-a-half years ago, but his stock has grown tremendously since then. He has established himself as one of the best young talents in the Premier League, and as a key figure in Thomas Tuchel’s England squad.

The attacker continued: “It’s about being consistent, I think is the main thing. I think showing it in glimpses and spells is all nice and well but you want to be able to do it on a consistent basis.

“I look at players in the room, in the training ground, your likes of Harry Kane, Jude (Bellingham), they’ve done it for five, six, seven, eight years consistently and that’s the difference from a good player to a great player and that next level.

“I want to take that step. I want to be in those conversations as the best player in England. I want to be in those conversations as the best players in Europe.

“I’ve still got a long way to go and a lot of learning to do and a lot of development but I think I’m on the right path of doing that, of learning from these players and getting my consistency right. I think that’s the main thing about consistency is what is the key to being the best.”
