Fernando Roig Negueroles has confirmed that Carlos Maciá and Alassane Diatta are full members of Villarreal’s first-team squad, underlining the club’s trust in its academy while keeping a measured stance in the final weeks of the window.

According to El Periódico Mediterráneo, the chief executive used Péter Gulácsi’s unveiling to set out the plan, stressing confidence in the group that Iñigo Pérez will lead and rejecting the idea that homegrown players reduce competitiveness.

He urged greater belief in the players already in place and said youngsters are ready to answer even on the toughest stages. Roig Negueroles pointed to last season’s third-place finish in LaLiga and said the club have added to an already competitive core with quality and experience.

He indicated Villarreal will stay alert for late opportunities without acting out of obligation, adding that there is currently little movement in or out.

The executive said Maciá and Diatta have drawn strong attention at home and abroad, with enquiries from up to 16 clubs. Even so, both will stay with the senior squad.
