Benjamín Rollheiser converted two penalties as Santos drew with Bahia in the Campeonato Brasileiro, later saying the win slipped away by a small detail. The Argentine’s brace lifts his confidence as he pushes for a bigger role under Cuca.
According to Globo.com, he has logged 670 minutes across 20 appearances in 2026, almost 34 per game. The double took him to three goals this year, matching his 2025 total in half the matches.
He began the season as a starter under Juan Pablo Vojvoda but lost his place after the Campeonato Paulista. Cuca arrived seeking to revive the club’s record signing, yet views him as Neymar’s understudy, which has limited opportunities.
Before facing Bahia, Rollheiser had featured in five games under Cuca, always after the interval, averaging 18 minutes. This was his first start with the new coach and he played 65 minutes before Miguelito replaced him.
On the ball he linked with Rony and Thaciano, tried to hold possession and dictate the tempo. Out of possession he led the first press, narrowed the front line and disrupted Bahia’s build-up.
Santos visit San Lorenzo in Buenos Aires on Tuesday at 19:00 in the Copa Sudamericana. The team will have five reinforcements back, including Neymar and Gabigol.
