With only a few days to go, Roma have yet to complete the important sale they need to conclude their settlement agreement with UEFA. However, they have yet to veer from their plan of cashing in on Matias Soulé.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the Giallorossi have turned down offers for Wesley and Mile Svilar in recent days. Manchester City and Inter showed interest in the fullback. Instead, Chelsea tabled a €50M proposal for the goalkeeper.
Roma would quickly solve their financial problems with a €100M windfall, but Gian Piero Gasperini doesn’t want to lose the duo. The two players are on the same page. The Sky Blues have lodged an inquiry for Manu Koné too, who’s being courted by PSG and Atletico Madrid. However, he’s also on the coach’s list of building blocks. Giuseppe Marotta denied that negotiations were underway for Evan N’Dicka.
Per Alfredo Pedullà, Soulé is generating interest in Saudi Arabia, from Al-Hilal and Al-Ahli in particular. The Giallorossi are looking for €35M plus add-ons and expect a formal offer to arrive in short order. The winger is lukewarm about going to Turkey and prefers the Premier League over Germany.
They must have an ace up their sleeve if they haven’t pulled the trigger already. They could still postpone the whole thing to 2027 if the bids don’t satisfy them, although it’d hamstring them for two further windows. It’d be quite the rapid fall for the Argentine if he really headed to Saudi Arabia after he was welcomed with much fanfare just two years ago and has been solid for the most part. Still, he’s the most replaceable among their centerpieces.
