With the World Cup now in the rearview mirror, Roma are bracing for Manu Koné to fetch significant offers, with Manchester United leading the pack. They have begun earmarking potential replacements, La Gazzetta dello Sport relays.

Gian Piero Gasperini recently confirmed that they’ll likely have to part ways with a centerpiece due to financial constraints and that the deadline has been postponed by a month. It now falls on July 31st. The Giallorossi’s preference would be to cash in on Matias Soulé. The offers for him have been lacking, though. He rejected a move to Saudi Arabia.

Roma value Koné at €55/60M, which would lead to a big ‘plusvalenza’, as he’s worth €12M on their balance sheets and is being tracked by Manchester United alongside Eduardo Camavinga and Alex Scott. Chelsea are after the midfielder as well. The Giallorossi are keen on a couple of players under BlueCo’s control.

The capital club is keeping tabs on Frank Kessié and Khephren Thuram as a way to respond to Juventus swooping in at the last second for Zeki Celik. The latter could depart for €40M. They have also shortlisted Celtic’s Arne Engels, who has a €20/25M price tag, and Botafogo’s Danilo Santos. He was part of Brazil’s World Cup roster. His valuation is roughly €30/35M.

Gasperini has changed his tune after being determined about not losing anybody, but we’ll see whether the Frenchman will indeed be the one to go. Kessié would be a solid replacement for a couple of years, but they are strict with wages, which is a significant hindrance in this case. Eventually, they’ll need a muscular and defensive-minded contributor, given the traits of their other midfielders.
