Gian Piero Gasperini’s transfer priorities aren’t limited to attacking wingers. He has also asked management to bring in a left-footed centre-back who can provide quality alternatives to Mario Hermoso throughout the season.
According to Il Messaggero, Roma’s goal is to find a ready-made player capable of immediately integrating into the rotation and offering reliability both in the league and in European competitions.
Unlike last summer, when the club evaluated the young Jan Ziolkowski as a promising investment, this time the strategy seems different. The intention is to focus on an experienced player, already accustomed to competing at the highest level and capable of quickly adapting to Gasperini’s tactical demands.
The search is therefore focused on a defender who can ensure solidity and consistency, increasing the options available to the coach without requiring a lengthy development program.
One of the defenders the Giallorossi appear keen on is Genoa’s Leo Ostigard, currently involved with the Norwegian national team at the World Cup.
The Rossoblu center-back shone in the last Serie A season, becoming a cornerstone of Coach De Rossi’s squad, making 31 appearances, scoring five goals and providing one assist.
One of the Norwegian’s most dangerous skills is his aerial ability, which even earned him a call-up to the Norway World Cup, where he has played four matches so far, including one as a starter, also scoring one goal, thanks to this skill that sets him apart.
