UEFA’s Financial Fair Play restrictions require Roma to evaluate a major transfer by June 30.

Among the hottest names on the horizon are Manu Koné and Evan Ndicka.

The Ivorian defender’s possible departure would force the Giallorossi to intervene in the transfer market to provide Gian Piero Gasperini with a new central defender.

According to Tuttosport, Roma is reportedly refocusing on Leonardo Balerdi.

The Argentine defender had already been linked to the Giallorossi last summer, but Evan Ndicka’s permanence, which remained in the capital despite requests to help the club raise funds, led the club to focus on the youngsters Jan Ziolkowski and Daniele Ghilardi rather than a more experienced player.

Balerdi’s name could now be brought up again in the coming weeks. The Argentine defender, included in Lionel Scaloni’s pre-selected squad for the World Cup, appears destined to leave Olympique de Marseille, either before or after the tournament.

However, Roma isn’t the only one interested in the Argentine.

Juventus, already interested in the player last summer, are also keeping an eye on him in Serie A. Abroad, the centre-back is being eyed by Nottingham Forest in the Premier League and Atlético Madrid in La Liga. The feeling is that a real bidding war could develop around Balerdi in the upcoming summer transfer window.
