Roma Snap Up Wolfsburg Defender, Bid for Feyenoord Star | OneFootball

Roma have snatched Konstantinos Koulierakis thanks to a substantial offer and are going after Givairo Read as a worthy fallback compared to Ivan Fresneda and their other options for the right flank.

According to Sky, the Giallorossi will pay €15M plus add-ons for the Greek center-back. The operation came together quickly. He headed to Wolfsburg from PAOK in 2024 and has collected 66 appearances, recording 4 goals and 3 assists. He has appeared 22 times with his national team. He’s coming on board to back up Evan N’Dicka and challenge Mario Hermoso.

While Roma sealed the deal for Koulierakis in a couple of days and then joined the fray for Givairo Read. They are tracking him alongside Fresneda. The two are mutually exclusive and currently the closest targets at the position, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.

Per Matteo Moretto, the capital club is ready to tender €25M for the Dutchman. Nottingham Forest lodged two proposals, but they were rejected by Feyenoord. The fullback has reportedly been on Inter’s radar throughout the summer. He has found the target 5 times and provided 11 helpers in 54 showings with his present team.

The Giallorossi are also trimming their squad, as Angelino is headed to Deportivo La Coruna on loan with a €2.5M option to buy.

Our Take on Roma, Koulierakis, and Read

The acquisition of a talented center-back is always welcome, but wasn’t exactly a major priority. We’ll see whether there’ll be some movement around N’Dicka or perhaps more simply Jan Ziolkowski or Daniele Ghilardi. Zeki Celik was occasionally helping out there from time to time, so it’s not necessarily a hint toward a departure. They are chasing after some interesting names on the wing, but they haven’t had much luck while competing with other sides.
