Roma ‘to target’ Sunderland’s £30m record signing Habib Diarra if Manu Koné leaves | OneFootball

Gazzetta suggests that Roma are considering Sunderland midfielder Habib Diarra as a potential option if Manu Koné leaves the Stadio Olimpico this summer.

Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin is also being assessed, and there has been no bid or formal talks with Sunderland so far.

Any move appears contingent on Koné departing, so Diarra is viewed as a possible replacement rather than an immediate priority.

Diarra joined Sunderland from Strasbourg last summer for around £30million, a club-record fee. The 22-year-old signed a five-year deal that runs to 2030.

He is expected to play a significant role for Régis Le Bris this season. Sunderland are not believed to be seeking a sale and would be in a strong position if interest is formalised.

The midfielder came through Mulhouse and Strasbourg, making his Ligue 1 debut in October 2021 before establishing himself in the first team and moving to Wearside in July 2025. He has returned to training after an extended World Cup break.
