Il Corriere dello Sport reports that Romagnoli and his entourage are considering legal action against Al-Sadd over the prolonged delay and potential fallout, and that he is expected to report to Formello in the coming days for medical tests after training alone recently.

It recalls a near-exit in January, when the 32-year-old said goodbye to supporters in Lecce before a switch to Qatar fell through. At the time, Claudio Lotito was painted as the obstacle after reportedly asking the defender to forgo a three-month salary, a request Romagnoli rejected on principle.

This summer, Lotito has approved his departure after accepting a €3 million offer, yet the Qatari champions have stalled since early July. Explanations cited in Italian and Middle Eastern coverage include national mourning following the death of the former Emir, a managerial change with Razvan Lucescu replacing Roberto Mancini, and tighter foreign-player limits.

A Lazio reintegration could follow if the transfer collapses. The club have so far fallen short in their pursuit of Dinamo Zagreb youngster Sergi Dominguez, though they have signed Danilho Doekhi on a free to replace Mario Gila.
